"Purchased a Rental Property policy in 2013 from another agency paid annual policy payment every April. My policy was passed around town to various agents when my initial agent stopped selling State Farm Insurance and finally ended up with McDonald insurance agency. Rude and unhelpful constantly trying to upsell auto insurance, in fact when they dropped us they called three times after to get us to buy automobile and homeowners insurance. In 2022, we were sent a notice that an inspector determined the roof needed to be replaced. According to the inspector who determined there was no one residing in the property, McDonald State Farm agency decided to not renew my policy and waited until two weeks after our renewal period had passed to let us know they had decided to not renew our policy. State Farm called our lender and said we had not been insured by them for six months and we were forced to buy vacant home insurance based on a roof inspector who never got out of his car when he “inspected” our roof but determined by sitting in the alley perpendicular to the house by seven foot privacy fence making determinations about the status of the property and whether or not it was occupied. McDonald agency staff did not tell me the policy was not going to be renewed when they demanded a security system certificate. They simply just didn’t do anything but wait until we couldn’t get a refund to let us know they weren’t going to renew the policy. We had the roof inspected for a roof replacement, the roofer stated he would replace it but it was not nessesary. I was also told there was a delay in getting material was we wanted to install a metal roof and there is only one company in the area that installs metal roofing. McDonald agency was provided with the estimate, the inspection summary, and the projected installation date along with the copy of the rental agreement for our current tenant. We ended up selling the house, but we will never use State Farm Insurance ever again. McDonald Agency did not earn our business they were given our policy, no claims, paid the policy premium in full, and always responded to requests and demands to perform repairs, painting, siding, power washing, and electrical work which was determined to be needed done with out ever entering the house."
